KINOOKUS – healthy foods tasting and film viewing: the two most enjoyable occasions to meet and exchange ideas
Ston –Sept. 16th through Sept. 19th 2010
The first international gastronomic film festival in Croatia will be held in Ston, from the 16th through 19th of September 2010. The Kinookus Festival, under the organization of the Kinookus Association and in cooperation with the Slow Food on Film festival, is supported by Dubrovnik-Neretva County, the Municipality of Ston, the Ston Tourist Board, the Croatian Chamber of Economy and the Dunea Regional Development Agency. The organizational team’s goal is to create a cultural manifestation springing forth from the peculiarities of the territory - its heritage, local gastronomy and customs. The project’s structure and programme encourage the wide participation of the local community, critical thinking about food consumption, and the relationship between man and the environment.
During the Festival, 9 short and 9 feature-length films will be screened, dealing with the farming and preparation of healthy foods, the struggle to preserve local culinary traditions, and bio-diversity. Most of the films are being screened in Croatia for the first time.

The film part of the programme delivers a competition between feature and documentary films, feature-length and short films related to food, environmental protection, and the preservation of local traditional crafts. The best feature-length film will be awarded the Velika kamenica (Large Oyster), and the best short-length film will be awarded the Mala kamenica (Small Oyster). The awards were designed by academic sculptor Alija Rešić.
Entrance to all screenings is free of charge.

The lectures of the pilot edition of the Festival are dedicated to the Italian Slow Food movement, its philosophy and mission. Representatives of the largest global movement for healthy food and gastronomic education will meet with local producers and entrepreneurs to discuss the possibilities and benefits of joining this movement. Within this section of the Festival, a new book by Veljka Barbieri titled “Epitaf carskog gurmana” will also be presented.

The workshops of the first edition of the Festival have been designed in cooperation with NGOs Zeleni forum/Eko-omblići from Dubrovnik and Crno bili svit from Sutivan. The workshops will highlight the education of youth starting at a very early age, as well as pupils in elementary and secondary schools. The programmes are designed to increase awareness about the importance of healthy foods, preservation of bio-diversity and a general responsibility towards the environment. The youngest audience will vote to award the best short film with Mala kamenica.

The market of local, traditional and eco- products is a place where producers can present and sell their products, meet other producers, and exchange experiences to foster cooperation and encourage new projects. The Kinolokus market is organized together with the Deša Association from Dubrovnik.

The opening ceremony of the Kinookus Gastronomic Film Festival will take place on Thursday Sept. 16th 2010 at 7pm on the square in front of Rector’s Palace in Ston. The opening film of the Festival, “Focaccia Blues” by Italian director Nico Cirasolo, features a small baker from Apulia fighting against a McDonald’s giant. After the screening, caterers from Ston will offer guests and visitors local delicacies with the sounds of the Bossanoga duo from Dubrovnik.

Noć vina u Stonu
U organizaciji Turističke zajednice Općine Ston, Udruge Plavac mali Pelješac, Pelješki vinski puta pod pokroviteljstvom Općine Ston i Dubrovačko-neretvanske županije na tvrđavi kule Arcimun u Stonu održana je prezentacija peljeških vinara i peljeških vina.
Na eno-gastronomskoj priredbi Noć vina u Stonu, sudjelovalo je 13 peljeških vinara sa svojim čuvenim pelješkim vinima. Uz vrhunsko pelješko vino posjetiteljima su pripravljeni domaći specijaliteti, delicije stonskog kraja-kamenice i mušule te pečene srdele uz zvuke dalmatinske glazbe. Noć vina u Stonu popraćena je promocijom turističkog filma o stonskom kraju“Five elements of Ston“. Osim brojnih posjetitelja i ljubtelja dobre kapljice uz pratnju načelnika općine Ston Vedrana Antunice ,direktorice TZO Ston Fani Slade , pročelnice u DNŽ-i Marijete Hladilo, i dubrovačko-neretvanski župan Nikola Dobroslavić, pridružio se brojnim vinoljubcima kako bi i sam uživao u kvalitetnim i vrhunskim pelješkim vinima. Brojni posjetitelj na jednom mjestu su mogli kušati kvalitetna i vrhunska vina od peljeških vinara: PZ Stoviš-Ston, Miho Rozić-Mili ,vinarija Ćurlin, Vina Vukas, vinarija Miloš, vinar Robert Barović, PZ Putnikovići, PZ Pelješki vrhovi, PZ Dingač, Matuško d.o.o, Madirazza d.o.o, vinar Mato Antunović.

Caravan Stage Company performs the play Command Perfomance
on the sailboat on 24.07.2010. in Ston (at harbour), starting at 21:00.

COMMAND PERFORMANCE is an original new work of the Caravan Stage Company incorporating the story of a dance-operatic theatre circus Troupe that is invited to perform on a Royal Super Yacht in the Adriatic. This new show will reveal the affairs everyday behind the scenes living, working, and traveling within the "back-stage" of this Circus Troupe... the characters, the relationships, the conflicts and the struggles to survive in this current era of global culture and financial crises
COMMAND PERFORMANCE will incorporate the hallmarks of the past Caravan shows including colorful characters, a full original musical score, poetic text, aerial and circus arts, video projections, special light and sound effects. It will also include new elements such as Giant Puppet characters and Movable Mechanical staging and props. It will feature a cast of four singers and six physical performers, including dancers & aerialists and additional circus talents.
COMMAND PERFORMANCE show will have a running time of approximately one and a half hours (90 minutes) with no intermissions. The show will start each evening at 30 minutes after the sun sets in your city. The 2010 show is appropriate for people of all ages... from 5 to 105.
