On the top of the hill rising above the Ston Field there is a pre-Romanesque church

Of St.Micahel,featuring the oldest frescoes preserved in the region.The enormous

Cultural value of this builiding was fully expressed only after the restoration of the

Church and its frescoes.It is assumed that the St.Michaels cgurch had been a court chapel
within the complex of the Ducal Palace.
Today this church is certainly one of the oldest and most valuable cultural monuments of Ston.
